David Nairn, the artistic director for Orangeville Theatre was the guest speaker at our April meeting. He has served in his current role for twenty-five years. The theatre was formed in 1994. “Thirteen PROBUS club members and their guests attended the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington on Wednesday April 26. The visit commenced with lunch in the RBG Greenhouse Café (which is part of the Visitor Centre) after which we drove the Rock Garden where we strolled through beds of spring flowers and flowering shrubs . We then drove to the Arboretum where the flowering cherry trees were at their magnificent best” before driving back to Bolton”.

Edwards Gardens Tour and Dancing in the Park

This tour will run on a June Tuesday evening with suitable weather. Beautiful Edwards Gardens are on Leslie Street 3 km south of 401. Trails run down to the Don Valley. At 7 PM a live band will start playing Scottish tunes and Scottish Country Dancers enjoy different dances including many audience participation ones when spectators are encouraged to join in the fun.

Four ladies and myself went for the MNM, Barb Moyer, Linda Thomas, Edna Clark, Sue Calder, the movie was a documentary ~ the life, music and activism of legendary Indigenous singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie. Very enjoyable and after the movie we went for dinner at The Hatter, 101 First Street, Orangeville. Mark your calendar for the next MNM is March 20th. Our Bolton Probus excursion to Little Canada was a huge success. It met our expectations and more; as we went on our journey of discovery through a vast, highly detailed, animated miniature representation of parts of Canada. We started at Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the Lake, Union Station, Distillery District, Parliament Building with every fifteen minute Canada celebration, Chateau Frontenac, Hamilton and Ottawa….watching the colorful miniature people, boats, canoes, cars, trains, animals and construction equipment in action. In our November 2022 meeting, the Bolton and District Probus Club had the pleasure of welcoming Geoff Hayes, a professor of history at the University of Waterloo. Professor Hayes provided the Club with an engaging presentation on Vimy Ridge, the battle and the myth. His presentation drew from the book, Vimy Ridge: A Canadian Reassessment. The Laurier Centre for Military, Strategic and Disarmament Studies describes the book as follows: “On the morning of April 9, 1917, troops of the Canadian Corps under General Julian Byng attacked the formidable German defences of Vimy Ridge. Since then, generations of Canadians have shared a deep
