Ezra Both an unpredictable family dramedy and a road movie that runs on mischief, the latest from director Tony Goldwyn (TIFF ’10’s Conviction) stars Bobby Cannavale, Rose Byrne, and Oscar winner Robert De Niro as three adults with wildly divergent opinions about what’s best for one precious little boy.

Red Fever Appropriately on Reconcilliation Day,  this movie described pereceptions of indiginous people over many  decades.  It mentioned the many professional,  local and school sports teams with Indian names,  the high fashion designs based on native motifs, the incredible sport success of many athletes,  especially Jim Thorpe and the terrible effects of residential schools. Ironically after the movie,  we enjoyed a meal at Montanas where a game involving the Atlanta Braves was being broadcast.

One Life Sir Anthony Hopkins stars as Sir Nicholas Winton, a British stockbroker who helped rescue hundreds of children from Europe on the verge of the Second World War, an act of compassion that was almost forgotten for 50 years.

SEPTEMBER’S SPEAKER- Katie Sawyers   Larry O’Donnell reactions Katie Sawyers was the guest presenter at our Thursday September 12th meeting. She is the coordinator Age-Friendly Caledon Project Lead and Human Services for the Town of Caledon for the last 8 years. Katie gave us an overview of the Age Friendly Caledon Action Plan 2021-2031. Currently, 16 % of the Caledon population is over 65. The main focus goal of the plan is envisioning a safe, welcoming and inclusive community that celebrates the diverse needs of all residents, regardless of age. Katie Sawyers, the Age-Friendly Coordinator for the Town of Caledon, will be presenting the Age-Friendly Caledon Action Plan. This presentation will cover the key deliverables of the plan and highlight the various services and supports available for residents aged 55 and older. The focus will be on how these initiatives are designed to help residents age well and comfortably in their own homes and communities, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to maintain a high quality of life as they age.

A Probus group drove to Stayner for a fun meal then a visit to the Avro Arrow- Edendale Aviation Heritage Foundation on Wednesday, June 15th. 2024. The tour guides started by describing the airport with its many hangers,  then three planes outside:  an old MIG from Poland, the same plane used by snowbirds,  then a rotund airplane used to search for submarines until 1990.
