What Happened

Our Bolton Probus excursion to Little Canada was a huge success. It met our expectations and more; as we went on our journey of discovery through a vast, highly detailed, animated miniature representation of parts of Canada. We started at Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the Lake, Union Station, Distillery District, Parliament Building with every fifteen minute Canada celebration,  Chateau Frontenac, Hamilton and Ottawa….watching the colorful miniature people, boats, canoes, cars, trains, animals and construction equipment in action. Tara Paton, PhD Research Core Facility Manager at The Hospital for Sick Children She will focus on technologies we use to sequence the human genome and how the information is used in Genetic Genealogy (it has been in the news lately, to solve crimes from decades ago) and human disease research. Our speaker Ted Baris discussed the Battle for the Atlantic. The meeting was also our anniversary and the mayor presented an award to the club for our successful years. Our treasurer Trevor Hawkes keeping close tabs on our money. .

In our November 2022 meeting, the Bolton and District Probus Club had the pleasure of welcoming Geoff Hayes, a professor of history at the University of Waterloo.  Professor Hayes provided the Club with an engaging presentation on Vimy Ridge, the battle and the myth.  His presentation drew from the book, Vimy Ridge: A Canadian Reassessment.
