The guest speakers at our April meeting were Nicole Abruscato and Tonya Salomans. Both  of these individuals are registered social workers and work for Services and Housing in the Province (SHIP). Nicole has been with SHIP for 14 years and currently works as Manager of Central Intake and Access Team. Nicole started the presentation by describing the SHIP organization and the service that is offered to its clients. Our guest speaker at our April meeting will be Jerry Gorman. Jerry grew up in the rural outskirts of Welland. He and his brother spent all of their free time boating on the Welland River and exploring and hiking along its banks. Jerry and his wife moved to Bolton in 1971. The housing was almost entirely in the valley and the posted population was 900! He is a founding member and current President of the Humber Valley Heritage Trail Association from 1996 until now. The exhibit of “Wolves:The Art of Dempsey Bob”, closes at the McMichael Gallery, Kleinburg on April 16th. and comes highly recommended. Those that are available and would like to go on Wednesday, April 12th. while this exhibit is still showing, please let me know. The weather should be better to enjoy the sculpture gardens and those interested can walk some of the trails.

E-VEHICLES Tim Burrows, owner and operator of an E-Vehicle and guest speaker at the March 9 Probus meeting, presented several reasons why your next vehicle should be electric. FOR CONVENIENCE: Charge your car at home in your garage or at the coast-to coast charging stations, instead of filling up at a gas tank. FOR ECONOMY: Electricity is much cheaper than gasoline. 100 Km of driving requires $3 for an E-vehicle as opposed to $13 for a gas-powered vehicle. Every month. the Monday Night Movies (MNM) shows a different movie from the Toronto International Film Festival. Four ladies and myself went for the MNM, Barb Moyer, Linda Thomas, Edna Clark, Sue Calder, the movie was a documentary ~ the life, music and activism of legendary Indigenous singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie.   Very enjoyable and after the movie we went for dinner at The Hatter, 101 First Street, Orangeville. Mark your calendar for the next MNM is March 20th.  The movie another documentary “The Long Rider”  about Filipe Leite rode his horse from Calgary to Brazil. Cynthia Wilson

Our Bolton Probus excursion to Little Canada was a huge success. It met our expectations and more; as we went on our journey of discovery through a vast, highly detailed, animated miniature representation of parts of Canada. We started at Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the Lake, Union Station, Distillery District, Parliament Building with every fifteen minute Canada celebration,  Chateau Frontenac, Hamilton and Ottawa….watching the colorful miniature people, boats, canoes, cars, trains, animals and construction equipment in action.
